Nice one Kermit. Just out of curiosity, what texture pack do you mean? I use moderncraft myself, so if it's a server based doohicky, I wouldn't see it anyway.

I'm up for the download option... give use the world files in a zip, and we can then each generate the map that suits us. Those who dont want to can stick with the maps you guys have been generating thus far. That 18gig file might be useful after all, if wee can generate it on our own machines...

The 'Big 'Ole Hole in the Ground' is progressing nicely, and ehile I have yet to turn up anything major (apart from iron and coal) its been an interesting project thus far. After the entire mine is down to bedrock level, I'm considering expanding sideways underground at the diamond levels. This should provide a supply of lava, diamond and redstone should people need it. Plus, its really rather groovy finding amazing cavern networks that go on for miles. If anyone wants to help, then please ask first before leaping in with shovels and picks, as I'm still trying to keep it all relativly neat for now!

Ok, so I'm up for taking orders for anything that can be found underground. Sensible things like iron ore, redstone and coal are plentiful, and I can provide them to those that dont like the hassle of searching, but dont want to cheat to get stuff. Rarer things like diamonds and lapis lazuli CAN be catered for, but it WILL take time. That, and I'll be keeping a small percentage of diamonds for making picks to mine obsidian with.

Also, at some point fairly soon, I'll be experimenting with a large open-cast mine in the search for said goodies. I'll find somewhere out the way for it, and would be greatful if someone could provide a rail link there and back for the distribution of materials.

There will be a fair few chests on-site containing excess finds, these will be free for all. Also in there will be buckets of lava for anyone to use (just don't burn the mine down, Qbrrbrl!)

Any chance of a rail link out my way, Dr Beeching?

(Edit: I have 512 brand-spakning new track sections for your useage, fresh from the forges! I'll be on this afternoon around 2-5pm. Catch me then!)

Could use one joining my canyon to the rest of the network. Either that, or some kind of relocation device that will take me from the spawn point back home without having to make The Incredible Journey™ each and every bloody time...

I'm up for any of the above, if I'm online when the rest of you are. Being an anti-social fucker on nightshift, I've been neglecting gaming for a while, but like Al, I'm moving back towards L4d1/2 and TF2 for now. Maybe BC", and certainly Dirt 2 in the near future!

Yeah, another poor sod here. Working xmas eve night-shift, then the 27th all the way to the 1st. Yay. Between Monkey and myself, I feel we'd make Ebeneezer Scrooge look like the posterchild for xmas festivities... XD

I still recommend the Antec 1200 as a prime choice for a case, as its bomb proof, excellent for air cooling, and will last forever. I don't plan to use anything else unless it somehow evaporates or becomes a pile of corrosion on the floor as its pretty much capable of taking any hardware going, and still having plenty of room to hold up to 12 HDDS, or 9 HDDs and 3 5.25" drives.

As a satisfied user, I highly recommend it. Nuff said.

From what I gather, LOTRO was one of the only MMORPGs to be increasing in subscriber numbers even before F2P, so there was never any imminent danger in the game shutting down or losing servers. F2P will no doubt add to the number of players, which as stated before is a good thing, as it'll give more players for the low level stuff. One of the things I found is that places like 21st were substantially more packed than places like Bree, which is weird if you think about it.

Hopefully we'll have a fuller world, and more people to show off our shiny new mega-weapons and crafting expertise to, eh? smile.gif

Welcome to Cablin's Curiosities!

I've decided to try and find any oddities in the game world, ranging from odd NPC/PC behaviour, to wonky world design and bizzare item placement. I've got a couple of screens showing a few minor odd things, but I'll be on the lookout for more as and when.

A simple cockup, such as placing a resource spawnpoint off the ground, is usually the most common gaff. Here we have a rare 'cabbage tree', with Cabalin facing the wrong way. Bloody dwarf, not the brightest rock in the quarry...

Ahh yes, the level designers sometimes entrust the generation of placement to a script, which doesnt always work properly. Will have to get the axe out and sort this one later...

A nice screenie of Cabalin making something. Nothing broken, unless you count the 'Arrrgh-fuck-my-eyes-hurt' blur filter applied to everything in Trestlebridge. Which means questing there requires glasses, according to our own dear Leader.

Something which seems a bit at odds with the laws of physics in LOTRO is the gravity. Specifically, gravity and horses. Sometimes, you can just defy Newton and thumb your nose at standard theories. The images below are just a few examples...

Bizzare stuff indeed. Cablin also pointed out that being a dwarf in LOTRO-Land isnt all bad. Sure, your woman folk have beards and carry axes too, but the female folk of the other races generally look far more appealing. And when you're a dwarf, the view is quite... captivating...

Enchanting indeed... On the other hand, when you look up, things get a little less... enchanting...

Eeesh. You might want to trim them nosehairs, Binala love.

And finally, after a long hard day slogging about Middle Earth, doing quests for all the lazy-arse NPCs outt here, what better way to relax than with a nice warm Thorin's Hall Bath...

Ok, nothing else for now, but if you spot anything odd, random or just plain crazy, post it here!

Aye, dont give up up on it until you've played alongside the rest of us! Its an arse at times, especially those fucking snipers, but eventually you get a good run of luck, and everything feels so incredible.

Yeah, feel free to come online and tell me how awesome I am, for a start. Also, even if you DO just start talking on TS, you'd be lucky to get a word in edgeways when myself, Foxx, 6 and K are yapping away. Just sound an airhorn into the mic or something, it might stun us for long enough that theres a gap to talk into wink.gif

Nah, you wont get 6 on Atacama, he absolutly detests any maps that have any form of vehicle on them. Myself on the other hand, love to blast tanks and heli's into kingdom come, so you'll find me on there fairly often.

Y'ello! Yeah, you seemed like a good experienced player, and it was rather less frustrating (although not entirely so) being shredded on the field by yourself a few times. Keep up appearances, and join us on the TS server, and we'll make a Monkey out of you yet, I figure! wink.gif
