Recently the spam bots have returned... basically the captcha system (the thing that asks you to type in characters from an image when you register) was breached by bots with decent optical character regonition (likely)

Using the new system there are now 36^6 or 2,176,782,336 images smile.gif

I've also removed 3 of the destination sites from the internet. Hopefully all this means we should be spam bot free for a while (the odd one may get through from accounts registered before this change) - if anyone hears of problems registering on the site then let me know smile.gif

We get attacked like this a lot - a throwback from the days of BF2 where we were targeted by some hacksites/individual for the work done in anti-cheats coding.

thanks,

cant you just remove the accounts if there is still some remaining?
MonkeyFiend
yeah, but I'm too lazy to go trawling through the members list smile.gif

don't they make the site look busy???
MonkeyFiend
Just because we've stopped them from registering an account and posted adverts for viagra doesn't mean they're not still trying to post tongue.gif

Besides it'd be nicer to have the traffic bumped up by real visitors.

Ahh the website outlook thing is rubbish and based on alexa (and alexa=evil) - most of the values it produces are just plain silly.

It tends to favour linkbacks to the site and so can be heavily manipulated if you cared (which I don't tongue.gif)

It also favours anything in dmoz
fido77
well, i'm not usually correct anyway
