So! Nightling is coming down in December, and will be here from the 2nd to the 16th, and because she is (in)sane, she would like to meet with as many people as posssssible! So, what are peeps doing? As far as I know, she'll be travelling round a bit, with destinations including London and Norwich, so hopefully there will be a time when it's convenient for all to meet up (not the 8th apparently =D).

So.... post away! (Hopefully this will include Nightling at some point with more detail - I was totally blackmailed into doing this)

I would love to meet up with everyone for a few pints and finally find out who is the certified Serial Killer among us (Cobolt) but im afraid the timing and location are not good for me. Visiting Norwich in December would empty my wallet, a task that will be done spoiling my beautiful daughter on her birthday on the 23rd. Plus Norwich is probably the hardest place to get to from Aberdeen in the UK (intentional I think)

I will donate some cash to the responsible one amongst you (Monkey by default) so you can have a drink on me.

NO! I don't expect anyone to come to Norwich unless they want too. Wolf has said he doesn't mind driving although I hate to think of too much on him or his car, but as long it's reasonable, we can meet half way or something. I think that Cobolt and Cable may have been talking about taking the train together. I'll be in London for 2 days when I arrive. I'll check out on the 4th. I want to sight see and do the whole silly tourist thing. We go to Canterbury on the 8th to visit my aunt. And Wolf actually lives in Norwich. So other than those bits, i have about 2 weeks to hop around and see people and sights. Just let us know and we'll find wiggle room. Obviously the more SM members we can cram into one big party, the better. smile.gif

I think most people live in Scotland, Liverpool or down south and then there's Raile in london. So Norwich is a pretty hench trip.

from one side to the other side of Britain is not very far tho. all third world countries are small. it will only take a while if you are traveling by camel or mule. if you drive a car it should only take 5 to 10 minutes tongue.gif

would take me 4 hours+ to get there. I guess in Texas that wouldn't even get you to the otherside. but in Britain you have to contend with traffic jams on motorways.

Would take me best part of 12 hours. Two trains and a taxi. Fido you sound like a southern gent so you should know all about 3rd world countries. Suppose you could travel that distance if you could get off your cousins for 5 mins lol.
Remember you speak the queens english young man!! If it wasnt for us europeans america would be full of its native indigenous people. Oh wait thats a bad thing.

What does everyone think about...
if they wanna go somewhere a bit more central so its not so far for everyone, how about...(drum roll) BIRMINGHAM!
i know its not exactly the nicest city, but i bet its got cheaper accomodation than most, and prob easier to get to by train etc. lemme know

IF we were to meet up in birmingham, the hotels are about 50 quid a night, and train from liverpool is 20 quid return-ish, i would imagine its similar for everyone else.
since i work for the same company that does the Premier-inns, ill look into getting us some discount on rooms (maybe cable could look at discount for train tickets?)

would be souper aweseome if we can all get together and just get hammered!!!

Birmingham sounds good for me as can get a trained there for like £13 then stay with a friend at uni there.

I guess we really need to base this event round where Nightling is though.

So Birmingham seems to be the magical meeting location (thanks to Foxx for suggesting) smile.gif If anyone needs a ride, we'll have one more seat i think. I believe Contender is joining our carpool. Has anyone found out anything about hotels in the area? if they have room, etc? I fly out exactly one week from today, so just want to stay on top of this. Any other input guys?

I was wondering if by the unlucky chance that tess and can't make it to meet up, where would everyone else prefer to meet? Since most of us are around the south end of England I think we should have a back up now instead of waiting till the last minute to figure this out. Is there a central location based around everyone that someone can suggest? Seeing as how I'm not from there, I have no clue where everything is as well as all of you. Let me know guys. I fly out in 3 days! smile.gif

I was thinking more of the fact that London is a suitable distance for everyone not to have to fork out on a hotel room and just get a train back towards the end of the night

I'm good for the 12th-14th. I belive I'll be working the night before though, so anyone planning to travel with me will either have to delay for a while if I try to sleep for a bit, or else you'll end up with someone who is sleep deprived and mental.

Like most game nights, really.

If we meet during the day on the 12th then I can stop off in London on my way down to Brighton, I only have to be in Brighton in the evening.

Right, so as no-one else has bothered to organise this, im going to suggest this as a template for the day:

1. Meet at Waterloo station at 13:00pm (ish).
2. Find a local pub - tube tickets are pretty cheap for a day pass for the local zones so personally i dont mind doing a bit of travelling if people know a good spot for lunch.
3. Drink / laugh at Cable.
4. Go home.

Reply if your coming otherwise we wont know who to wait for at the station!

Sounds like a plan, but Waterloo?!!! thats a bit lazy of you motherfucker! I know your game, you too cable. How about somewhere that isn't south of the river, because no one ever wants to go south. I say we meet at Tottenham court road, right in the centre. Or if you want to wait outside, Soho square is good.

Given that theres 3 of us comming up from the southlands, we'd be arriving there anyway. And nearby, you have all sorts of stuff, like the Aquarium, the London Eye, Namco, etc. So stop yer whinging, and get yer arse to Waterloo, you big baby.

My my, we're grumpy today, arent we? biggrin.gif

I'm sure at a pinch, we'll just use Waterloo as a general meetup point, then migrate to somewhere more central to either meet anyone else arriving after us, or just in general to facilitate easier departures for whence that time commeth. Or something.

In any case, we're trying to come up with a plan here, so nothing is set in stone just yet. Still waiting for the other 'tards to get their arses online and post yays or nays.

Well we're online and ready for the 12th. I think I'm going to get a hotel room for the night though guys. Don't much see the point of going out to the pubs and either NOT getting smashed or not being able to enjoy the "pub" night out. *shrugs* If we're going to get hammered, then let's do it properly! LOL So anyone who wants to crash at ours in case of inebriation is welcome to do so. Better to sleep it off in a hotel then risking the drive. Not really sure how strict they are in this country about all that though. Anyway, let us know!
