Test Server Options

Rather than me mucking around with our main servers and cocking up the configs, I've procured (my own money) another server to use as a test box. It'll be hosting l4d/l4d2 (usually l4d2) and will be featuring any code that I'm testing. It is currently running as 20 slots for coop or versus l4d1 or 2

The IP: 83.142.49.9:8008

The connect command:

mm_dedicated_force_servers 83.142.49.9:8008


All clan members should have the usual admin and password details for hlsw can be found in the usual place in the members area.

also apart from those cowardly swine that crept around to rear flags, typically most of the fighting on infantry was between two flags - meaning only a short distance to travel.

The vehicles servers have a lot of issues - since you can get around from flag to flag quickly, it led to flag hopping.. instead of decent fights you'd be chasing round people capturing rear flags.

if youve got a vehicle to hand then great, if not your stuck on a large map with no decent transport. You certainly can't rely on the pubbies to actually come pick you up from anywhere. Vehicles also led to chopper whoring - where people had got very good at the attack choppers slaughtering people on the ground, with weakened AA they were very difficult to stop.

Infantry servers also helped prevent teh nubtards TK'ing for vehicles. The only remedy for this is to be admin on the server as kick votes require more than half the people on the server to vote and most people either don't vote or have opted out from all voting

The upside was unlike L4D the servers were great to setup
