Friend notification (where you see the name of steam friends in green above the player heads) has been turned off in our servers due to FPS issues people were having

Yep, a well known bug where random people will show up as 'friends' regardless of whether the friends notification is enabled or disabled on the server.
Actually the server might need a restart for setting to take effect. will check -------------------- |
