Upgraded to Vista 64bit. Have all my graphics drivers installed. When i try launch a steam game it freezes meaning i need to restart the PC using the power button.

I personally would try looking at your graphics drivers first - current/beta etc.,
I don't use a deskband, so have no idea which work on 32 or 64 bit
