I've always used random servers when playing L4D so no idea how you connect specifically to an ip address.
I use to use HLSW for CS but not sure if can use it for L4D as well. I tried adding the SM server ip's through openserverbrowser in console but it doesn't wanna add any. And I dunno how you create a lobby then connect to SM server? -------------------- ![]() |

when you create a lobby, open the console (usually `) and then use:
mm_dedicated_force_servers #### Server #1: mm_dedicated_force_servers 217.163.31.65:27015 Server #2: mm_dedicated_force_servers 217.163.30.170:27015 Server #3 (L4D2) : mm_dedicated_force_servers 212.187.208.113:27015 Server #4: mm_dedicated_force_servers 83.142.49.90:28011 Server #5: mm_dedicated_force_servers 83.142.49.90:28010 Press enter then start the game. The details of the connect commands and some useful admin commands are on: http://sneakymonkeys.com/admin.txt Server #1 & #2 are public Server #3 is a public L4d2 server Servers #4 & #5 are clan servers ![]() p.s. theres another post somewhere about binding these connect commands to a specific key so you don't have to type them in -------------------- ![]() |

HLSW apparently supports L4D so I'll see how that works and if that fails, i'll do the old fashioned connect ip.here through console.

HLSW appears to be working perfectly. Takes about 20 seconds for ping to drop from 250 down to 40 but I can wait that

yeah, hlsw does indeed work with l4d and you can use it for the sort of stuff you are doing like connecting to servers.
The problem with hlsw is if you use rcon - there's a bug in l4d where if the server receives an rcon command during map change e.g. if its a bit laggy getting server logs at the end of round it crashes the server (shouldn't be a prioblem unless you stick rcon into hlsw though ![]() -------------------- ![]() |
