Achievement Fix Options

Well ladies and gentlemen, the wait is over; a fix is soon on the way for the frequent resetting of stats and, more importantly, achievements.

I recently asked for confirmation and awareness of the problem to VALVe employee, -GreenMarine-, who occasionally frequents these forums, his response was thus:

Quote: I also lost my achievements and I agree that it is frustrating. Word from the steam group is that this was a bug with the back end servers and they have been updated with a fix so no further loss should happen. I further inquired when this patch was applied as I lost my achievements the prior night between 7 and 10 PM EST...he responded again:

Quote: Phil says "It actually still hasn't gone out yet. The rack operator for the week felt that there were too many issues going on with the Steam backend to apply the fix mid-week. The new operator is preparing to do the weekly update today."

So apparently it won't be updated until sometime today. That's the latest I've heard. There you have it folks, the problem is still there, but VALVe is aware of it, and there is a fix out there, it just hasn't applied to the Steam servers yet.

I had a feeling, from the beginning, this wasn't a game issues so much as it was a steam issue; looks like this confirms it.

Either way, the wait is over; assuming things go well today, your achievements and stats will be safe from here on out.



No-ones sure if you get the 1's you lost back or not but not losing anymore would be a great help.
