Hello,
i think i have been banned because i can't connect anymore. it says "your ip has been banned" since more than 30 mins. The real problem is that i got banned for "DOG HATE/ SUFFER SPAM" ![]() Sorry for speaking about the shit days i had watching my dog bleeding ! i didn't know that you couldn't speak about "suffer" when it was not really spam because i said at all only 4 sentences. Check logs if needed, it happened today around 30 min ago. My name in game was "a newb" and my steam ID, in case you decide to unban me, is 76561198361287525 And please, explain me what the "DOG HATE" means ? in my opinion it can mean two things : The admin that banned me hate dogs he thinks i hate dogs if you banned me just because you hate dogs then keep me banned. In the other case, i can assure you that i liked my dog that's why it was hard to watch him suffer for days after he ate this fcking poison. Even if you don't unban me, i'd like to get an answer to this question. edit : in case you think it is a troll. Maybe you need me to show picture when i buried him ?? ![]() |

Why do you feel it was necessary to share inside a Medieval Combat Game how much you suffered when your dog died?
Most probably you were banned for flamming. Anyway, let's wait until the admin that banned you answers here. |

Somewhat disappointed in this. The basic rules that we have specify bans for intentional team damage/killing and for racist language, we obviously extend this into other areas of popular griefing (glitching into usually inaccessible areas/hacking of course) then there's the wider area of behavior e.g. purposely blocking narrow passages or spamming chat.
As mentioned in the rules section usually we see either gibberish spam, a lengthy discussion about something that becomes excessive and distracting to the server or someone trying to start a contentious topic (usually in the form of debating religion/sexuality/extreme political views), however spam is spam. The content of it is generally irrelevant in this respect, although I accept that admins will have more tolerance to someone discussing soccer than someone wishing to air their views on abortion or something equally edgy. To emphasise this, if someone wants to witter on about a soccer team etc., they're generally free to do so. If the chat becomes excessive and spammy, they may be warned/asked to take it elsewhere and eventually kicked etc., If the topic is contentious there's generally less tolerance to it, especially if it's felt people are trying to intentionally troll. However again warnings, then action. The rules therefore being broken would be for spamming chat. The server logs list the reason as "dog hate / suffering spam". Whilst 'spam' in itself it a legitimate reason, usually following warnings to stop, the prefix relating to dogs is irrelevant. Either a person is spamming chat or they're not, either they were warned to stop spamming chat, or not. As mentioned, spam in itself is actionable, after warnings. If we kick someone then that's one thing, but if we're issuing permanent bans, then we need to make sure the reasons sit neatly within our own rules. The sad fact is people banned are often quick to air such grievances publically, with screenshots on the steam/Torn banner forums, which obviously without context or with their own spin on matters (because of course they never have done wrong) and this will damage the reputation of fairness and applying of rules equally within the clan. In this respect a more professional response would be "Banned for spamming after repeated warnings" - if a user posted this publically, it's pretty justifiable whereas "dog hate / suffering spam" is frankly crap and will make us look like we permanently ban someone for "dog hate" - ohhh, best not say "I hate dogs" or I might get banned (!). That would present the clan as being petty and not following our own rules. As such I'm overruling this ban, my apologies to newbie123 regarding the ban reason: you may or may not have been spamming chat, but the reason behind the ban is unacceptable. I'll also ask if someone does decide there is future legitimate reason to kick or reban newbie213 they gather some screenshot and post in the members area. In summary: our rules are clear. The reasons we make for bans are clear and I'm not willing to tolerate members making up their own criteria unless the rest of the clan agrees with it. -------------------- ![]() |

well, thank you.
i didn't except a such long and complete answer because of the way i got banned. But this answer definately makes my trust into SM admins increase back. i agree on my side that we all come on chivalry for fun and shoudn't speak about sad stuffs but it was the only thing i had in mind this day. |

As someone who had a dog for over 13 years, considered him a part of my family and had to put him down (let him suffer for a week before since I hoped he'd get better) - I personally know how you feel. Don't feel discouraged to talk about it, I'm sure a lot of people cared even if they didn't say a word.

sure, i appreciated to see a few people who cared yesterday when i said it.
it was not my first one to die but seeing the poison do its job slowly while i couldn't do anything to help was hard. came on chivalry after having burry him to change my mind but it doesn't goes away so easily and as i like to speak a bit when playing, i spoke of it of course but never intended to make a "suffer spam". Still, thanks to monkeyfiend for removing my ban, it still make pleasure to see that and no worry i won't speak anymore about other subject that chivlary on the server. |
