nice, but I think it would look more realistic if the buildings were not multi coloured and had windows, doors etc. So they are user friendly

good luck creating the textures for the buildings.
you'd have to screen cap them in game, then flatten them out. tons o work. can't think of an easier way to do it.
i had to do that in uni for my showreel when i had a bit of a 3d city bit.
of course as soon as you have textures on there it will look infinitely better.

yes, completly untextured, will do that at the end
half of the reason im doing this actually is to get my texturing skills up a level
as far as screen capping each one, heh no.
ill do my own textures from scratch, complete with my personal touch.
but of course ive gotta finish modelling it yet ;p

right if your trying to get better at doing textures then i guess doing your own would be the best way
of course your own textures will make it not look like karkand..
=R6= Raile
Nov 12 2008, 04:59 PM
projection textures or what?
Magik5
Nov 12 2008, 05:37 PM
why will my own textures not make it look like karkand....
ur just weird
thats like saying the goldeneye mod for hl2 doesnt look like goldeneye from n64... [
http://goldeneyesource.com/ ]
ill use whats there as a guideline... and do my own thing
=R6= Raile
Nov 12 2008, 05:56 PM
of course it CAN look like it..
but I have strong feelings towards you not putting enough effort in to doing that
I ask again,
what method to making the textures?
Magik5
Nov 12 2008, 09:04 PM
i dont really no what kind of answer your after, didnt no there were different names for texturing styles...
can tell you itll be mainly photoshop/bitmaps for buildings,
grass/ground most liekly done in max, with the exception of cobbles/brick roads etc
who knows until i actually do it tho

hmm so long since I've checked the site (very busy in work and a pay review in the next couple of weeks)
Just a quick point, if you wanted quick and easy textures then load them up in the bf2 map editor and use them from there
(saves having to screen cap in game
)

ive never played with the level editor, would be cool if you could import ur own models...
hmm now theres a thought

wouldn't that be kinda like building a mod?
Magik5
Dec 9 2008, 02:13 PM
no it would be like building my own level
except theres no point as karkands already built
ive had an idea on doing a low poly version and sticking it in shockwave tho
